His quotes about fame tell us so much about what a really sensitive man he was. It's a very hard world to live in for men who are like that. We're supposed to be macho and all that BS. So great to see this! Some jerk sent me a piece re:Rhett's wanting to alter Michael's COD – LEGALLY! I was ill. Literally. All night! Bad enough w/the UK Press (and unnamed, talentless, publicity whore), spreading lies, denying depression – comments like "He had so much to live for," are supposed to be PROOF that he wasn't depressed or suicidal? Nudity? He often was! With friends and so were they! And "popping" or being "addicted to" Prozac! Come ON! Sorry. Doesn't work that way. Sure! I'll take this and get high in 8-12 weeks. AHH! Severe depression, agonizing pain, and in the sensitive, kind and generous heart that was Michael! Never has a more beautiful man been spoken of so poorly, treated with such cruelty. And by people claiming to love him! Did this guy even KNOW his brother? How do you say things like that about someone you love? In my mind, you don't. It's been a rough one (anniversary, b-day). You've all made it so much better! That Michael ever hurt so much, is devastating. That people continue to drag him through the mud… I could not have found this site at a better time. Thank You! Lovely!

I wrote Rolling in the Deep about Hutch many years ago and even vaguely refer to "Down Under" in the song. Adele's stagename came from Adele Island in Western Australia.
Hutch and I met in Jun '83 when I was 15 and soon began working with them on songs. It was in Oct '83 I found an article which used the word Evanescence, upon learning the meaning of the word we wrote the song Disappear and I named the future band which would perform my songs. This same article by Frank Rick of The New York Times inspired me to write Like A Virgin performed by Madonna.
I found out from Paula Yates that Hutch called me Tiger. I am the one who gave him the nickname Max for the '79 Aussie film Mad Max.
