“Tiger Lily Looks Just Like Michael”
Michael Hutchence’s little girl has embraced the family of his love rival. With her soulful eyes she resembles her late father more and more each year, but Tiger Lily is slipping further away from her Australian heritage. No longer a little girl torn between two families, Michael Hutchence’s daughter is a stoic young woman, providing support for her adoptive father Bob Geldof at the recent funeral of his father, Bob Senior.
Flanked by her older half-sisters, Fifi Trixibelle, 27, Peaches, 21, and 19-year old Pixie, Tiger Lily was a picture of composure during the emotional day. Embracing the Boomtown Rats frontman throughout the ceremony, she was, in essence, a Geldof. It’s the final blow for Tiger Lily’s remaining relatives – the Australian family of her INXS lead singer father, who died in 1997.
Michael’s mother, Patricia, has pictures of her son and his only daughter Tiger Lily throughout her home, but that’s the closest she’s been to Tiger Lily in four years. “I don’t know what her favourite colour is, what movies she likes or what fashion she’s into. I don’t know anything, yet she is my grandchild.” Patricia has told Woman’s Day of their distant relationship. Patricia has blamed Bob for keeping Tiger Lily, now 14, out of her Australian family’s lives. She has only been permitted to visit in 2006 – and that was on the condition Tiger Lily’s nanny stay with her. Even then, Tiger Lily’s connection to the father she never knew was undeniable. “I put on a video of Michael and after she watched it she turned to me and said ‘Now I know who my real daddy is’. It was heartbreaking,” Patricia says.
While Michael’s looks and charisma are obvious in his daughter, this appears to be where the connection to her Aussie family ends. “Tiger”, as her father lovingly called her, has been in Bob’s care since her mother Paula Yate’s drug overdose death in September 2000. At the time, members of the Hutchence clan hoped to gain custody of Tiger Lily. But a legal stoush between Bob and Michael’s half sister Tina was dashed when Kell Hutchence – Michael’s father – supported Bob’s quest to bring up Tiger alongside her older half-sisters.
Bob reasoned he was raising his and Paula’s three daughters, so it only seemed appropriate for him to keep the family together. He was awarded full custody in December 2000. Tiger’s half-sisters have protected and supported her. Their closeness was clear at the funeral as she tenderly hugged Peaches, before turning to comfort Bob – the man she has known as Dad since the age of four.

I have so many mixed feelings about the entire custody situation. But the main thing is that Tiger is healthy, loved and happy. Irregardless of what the public think, this IS her family and Im sure she loves them dearly. It is very sad however that she has had no contact with her biological family, for when she is older, they will probably all be gone and the opportunity gone as well. Sad but unfortunately true.

What she looks like is tired of paps taking her picture! She's with the family who have loved her, cared for her and protected her. The best of a bad situation. Just because she doesn't appear to have a relationship with Patrica doesn't mean she doesn't have a relationship with anyone in the Hutchence family. That is not true. It's my understanding however, that Patricia is very ill and I do hope that Bob will do her a solid and bring Tiger to see her. The 'Bob is Satan' thing needs to end though.
