I have a question, why did you post this incredibly negative review of this album and not a more positive one? this review cuts the boys musicianship and creativity right down and pretty much throws the album in the bin

Haven't seen any positive reviews? Like it only sold 36 copies in all of Western Australia (the Farriss's home state) in it's first week! That says it all. People can give opinions good or bad, as can cd reviewers. But the charts don't lie, if people don't like something they don't buy it and the charts reflect that.

I don't think anyone is dissing the band for the sake of it. Any negatives are just as valid now as negatives thrown around when Michael was alive. The fact of the matter is, this 'new' album isn't selling, and reviewers do not appear to be supporting it either. You could just as easily post positive reviews you find here.
I see it as not about knocking an individual's right to love in non-the-less, but about reporting what's actually happening as a commercial disaster for INXS. Maybe the X Factor appearance will boost sales.

Oh well Matt people are missing out cause musically and vocally it is a great album! except for maybe Original Sin. I do know their home state to cause I'm from it and live in Perth where J,T and A grew up which makes me proud. I don't know how it could have only sold 36 copies in it's first week here in WA I'm sure it would be more than that; and I did hear some pretty excited people interviewing the guys in the lead up to the release here in OZ and a lot of OZ fans on inxs.com, they need to release a couple of singles and make videos for them and Chris needs to pull his finger out and heavily promote the album he has raved about so much for nearly 2 years, the problem is this album is a grower and takes a few listens to really appreciate it for what it is, but reviewers are going in not wanting to like it because of what it is and listening to it once and dismissing it; but you know, INXS has always meant more than album sales and for me some of their least selling were their best! They've always been about integrity and doing what they want which has always kept each album fresh, good on em for Original Sin I say

Ok maybe I over did it a bit on that last comment, musically the new album has some quite amazing and beautiful moments, Jon Mayer's guitar work on Mystify is something else, Andrew and Kirk doing Don't Change is moving and J.d nails The Stairs, but I do understand if it's not selling and rather than getting on the defensive I've decided to be truthful; the problem is when you listen to these tracks you're reminded of just how great the originals are and that they never needed to be redone!! I personally am not fond of the new take on Original Sin and Mediate as to me they fit in too well with all the other dance music that the charts are saturated with, and the original sentiment of Michael's lyrics in Original Sin have been removed; Just Keep Walking with Dan Sultan is catchy as hell but Kick is the one a lot of people simply hate. If they had of put new lyrics and titles to the completely different new arrangements for songs like Mystify, Kick, New Sensation, Just Keep Walking which you would never really be able to tell, and had of filled the album with more originals like that it would probably be hailed as a great INXS album, the problem I think for a lot of people isn't all these different singers but that they are redoing the vocal Michael originally laid down. Bon Jovi actually re-imagined some of their hits several years ago on an album called This left feels right and from memory it wasn't a big hit, and that is with the same singer; though I do applaud INXS for taking this risk and the album does have it's moments it just wasn't the right choice for them, and it's not really moving on as much as a brand new album of original songs would be

I posted pretty much the same comment on INXS.com under deeperinmind75 - Ok, man I've been so bipolar on this album, I loved it at first then I started picking at it and comparing it to the original versions and couldn't embrace it, and now I wish I could remove all my former comments about it because I've reached my conclusion and this will be my last comment on this album. Last night I listened to it a couple of times and let go of comparing it to the original versions and just took it in, and I'm so glad I did because as others have said on INXS.com I finally 'get it' and appreciate it. Each song stood out on it's own and though I prefer some songs to others as a whole it makes sense and is a real diverse journey, I get that each vocalists new interpretation is their way of paying tribute to Michael and the songs musically and vocally are a tribute to him and not designed to replace him; the five guys love Michael and as a whole this album is a beautiful tribute to him and what the six of them did together. The musicianship is amazing and Mystify in french with Jon Mayer's guitar work is a haunting trip, I even like Kick now and Pat doing Beautiful Girl and think his vocals are great, Original Sin with Rob Thomas is stuck in my head which I didn't expect, love To Look At You and The Stairs and both Kav and especially J.d do a great job and those two songs go well together, and Don't Change with Andrew, Kirk and Jon is beautiful and Kirk's sax solo man, that's the one that really makes you think about Michael!! My problem was I thought it was somehow not doing right by Michael to embrace these new versions especially having loved INXS since 1987, but we will always have the originals; if people can just let go then this album is a special experience, this is a whole new very fresh INXS flavor!! the guys deserve our support as this has been a labor of love for the past two years and the guest singers deserve kudos to; I'm sorry I ever doubted them doing this album and I'm excited to see the new show in February at Kings Park and look forward to what comes next; I couldn't care less about album sales as INXS has always been much more than that and as this album needs a few listens to understand it reviewers will dismiss it. I will always love the original INXS songs the most and for me the Hutch years will always be unequaled!! I was beyond gutted when he died and I remember the exact moment I found out; but I was always a fan of all six guys and what each of them brought to the table, I thank the guys for this album. I will never forget Michael and I'm making a tribute for him and posting it tomorrow on youtube under my youtube name thestew75, we all remember what tomorrow is
