That means nothing these days, because the so called production line uninspired music dominating the top of the charts have thrown out the window what it used to mean to have a hit album; I'll take substance and real music over that any day! This is a fantastic album and the musicianship from the guys is amazing, and to have all these singers from around the world pay their respects to Michael is really special, I recommend giving it a few listens to appreciate it and let the songs take you away, yeah the songs are different and some completely but that's the whole point, of course the originals will always be the best, Hutch will always be the best, but I'll still support the boys, but hey this is just my opinion not gospel
I don't think the talent that is on the album is in question at all. The band members can still play as great as they always did and have shown some pretty amazing artistic choices in the instrumental parts of this album. The artists are also a talented bunch. My feelings are that Michael Hutchence OWNED those songs. It's okay occasionally for different singers to perform them on a show or at a concert, etc. but Michael was and is the best period. You don't mess with that. Inxs could have released so many other unreleased songs that they made with Michael. They promoted this album in Canada first maybe Australia felt slighted and JD does not fit in or belong with this band.
