MH Fan Feedback: What do you think of this INXS project?

MH wrote Never Tear Us Apart as a love song for Michele Bennett...it's not a band covering the song which is what usually happens, it's INXS actually "re-recording" the songs without MH. A song that he wrote the lyrics too. Would you prefer the original classic versions to be remembered the way they were intended to be when MH wrote them?

I think I'd prefer the original versions to be remembered the way they were intended to be when Michael wrote them. Because I dislike to hear others people singing his songs, to me his voice is the best, and when these are songs he wrote the lyrics to, he really made them live by singing them, so i can't appreciate someone else singing the songs. But, that's my personal feelings, I don't judge Inxs.

It's a novelty recording and I'm not a fan - I'll always be an INXS fan, but I'm not a fanatic, and therefore (just like some questionable Hutch era INXS stuff) I won't swallow it JUST out of loyalty. I'm more objective. So, based upon what it is, and the quality, I personally think the Beck Record Club project for Kick showed more imagination, and 're-imagination'.
Ultimately, they're Hutch era classics, and these 'new' renditions will not be as welcomed or anywhere near as popular and have the longevity. If you love the tracks, you'll always go back to the originals, and that's the simply fact. In a nutshell, I don't like over-dramatic vocal gymnastics of todays singers (ever since Mariah Carey in fact) and that seems to be the be all and end all for the 'talent' shows dominating TV these days, and is an american-ism that is drowning soulful lyric delivery in music today. The delivery of Michael's vocals is what stood him apart from the others of his time, and since. The tracks therefore come to life only TRULY when he sings them.Posted 1 year ago # -
INXS with Ben Harper's 'Never Tear Us Apart' single has failed to make the top 100 singles for the 2nd week in Australia. The song is yet to chart on the ARIA singles charts.
