Beck friends to cover the whole classic 1987 kick album
« Australia: Madison Magazine – April 2010 | Hot Tub Time Machine Soundtrack CD – What You Need »
The fourth release from Beck’s Record Club will see it cover the classic 1987 INXS 'Kick' album in full, the album which turned Michael Hutchence into one of the biggest rock stars on the planet! Beck’s Record Club is an informal meeting of musical mates who get together and record an album in a day. At his official Record Club site, Beck proudly proclaims that “nothing is rehearsed or arranged ahead of time.
There is no intention to ‘add to’ the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens.” So far he has enlisted Feist, Devendra Banhart, MGMT, Nigel Godrich, Giovanni Ribisi, Jamie Lidell and members of Wilco to perform Record Club tributes to Skip Spence’s Oar, The Velvet Underground & Nico and Songs Of Leonard Cohen.
For the INXS KICK record Beck has recruited St. Vincent, Liars and reunited Brazilian Tropicália group Os Mutantes to help out. Liars man Angus Andrews tackles the lead vocals on the first track from the project Guns in the Sky, but there’s no telling what will do with New Sensation, Need You Tonight or Never Tear Us Apart.
Michael Hutchence was a fan of Beck, and they played some of the same festivals together during 1997. A very rare numbered limited edition cd was released in 1998 by radio station 94.5 The Edge which included live tracks from both Beck and INXS at Edgefest 1997…the INXS live tracks are Elegantly Wasted, What You Need & Never Tear Us Apart…while Beck performs Where's It At. Beck's 1996 album Odelay was awarded Album of The Year by American RollingStone and by UK publications NME and Mojo. Odelay also received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year. His 2002 album Sea Change was also awarded album of the year by RollingStone magazine.

This recorded a piece of me! Eagle Air is a novice looking to be free to stroll all the exhibitions “Life is to learn not to get …”I like this sentence, very healthy outlook on life: You do not get a satisfactory cause; is learned How closer to happiness. You do not get the victory; is to learn how to avoid failure. You do not get the final result you want; that things will not be satisfactory to learn …
